Instructions for Patients

Last few days before Surgery:

  • Follow a low-carb diet (avoid roti, rice, sugar, and fats) and a high-protein diet (meat, lentils, and eggs).
  • Stop smoking (if applicable), perform deep breathing exercises, and use steam inhalation three times a day.
  • Continue taking all prescribed blood pressure and diabetes medications.
  • Stop blood thinners such as Ascard and Lowplat five days before surgery, following your physician's advice.
  • Notify us if your blood pressure exceeds 140/90 or your blood sugar exceeds 300 mg/dL.
  • Make the 10% advance payment for hospital and operating room booking.

On the Day of surgery:

  • 8:00 AM: Take a shower using soap and water before leaving for the hospital.
  • 9:00 AM: Leave home and arrive at the hospital for your scheduled admission.
  • Complete the hospital admission process and any required laboratory tests if they have not already been completed.
  • You may drink water until 12:00 PM (noon).
  • Do not eat or drink anything by mouth after 12:00 PM unless specifically instructed otherwise by your surgical team.

One day before surgery:

  • Follow a soft diet throughout the day before surgery.
  • Continue taking all prescribed medications as scheduled, except blood thinners such as Ascard and Lowplat.
  • Have your last meal at 12:00 AM (midnight) if investigations are scheduled for the following morning, and continue drinking water as instructed.
  • Complete your pre-registration by telephone with our coordinator before arriving at the hospital.
  • Notify us if your blood pressure exceeds 140/90 or your blood sugar exceeds 300 mg/dL.
  • Make the required 10% advance payment for hospital and operating room booking.

Special considerations for patients with:

  • Diabetes Mellitus (Sugar): Do not take any diabetes medications on the day of your surgery.
  • Hypertension (High Blood Pressure): Continue taking your routine morning blood pressure medications on the day of surgery unless advised otherwise.
  • Blood Thinners (Ascard, Lowplat): Stop these medications five days before surgery, but only after discussing it with your surgeon and/or cardiologist.
